Preparing people for a Regenerative World...
Pothigai Solai Vazhvoor envisions a world of empowered people and communities,
designing and implementing pathways to a regenerative future,
while building bridges of hope and worldwide solidarity.
This is to ensure that POTHIGAI’s constituency and its colleagues are involved in all plans and programs that the programs are not imposed from above but rather, they emanate from within, through a process of consultation and discussion true to the partnership spirit.
This is to ensure collective leadership at all levels, requiring sharing, cooperation and a positive team spirit among its members. Duties and responsibilities are shared and decisions are made at group level rather than by individuals.
This is to emphasize the need for being open and receptive to new ideas and remain flexible in our policies, plans and approaches. This is also to reiterate the fact that development is never static but a dynamic process, which demands an open mind to world views and trends.
This is to ensure that POTHIGAI remains transparent in all activities, and that it is accountable for all such activities. All those associated with these activities, the constituency and the public at large, have the right to know what is going on in the organization. The reports on programmers and the statement of accounts need to be shared with all well-meaning individuals, groups and organizations.
This is based on the firm belief that all humans need to be treated equally irrespective of their material wealth, social status, gender, knowledge, occupation and skills. POTHIGAI respects the integral worth and dignity of every person.
An organization cannot preach justice outside if it does not practice it internally. All of POTHIGAI’s policies, programs and actions will be guided largely by this core value. It is ultimately POTHIGAI’s wish to see that justice is restored to the common person in all spheres - social, economic and political.
All over the world, cities are growing and rural areas are shrinking. The situation is the same in Tamil Nadu. Cities have accumulated more funds economically. The villages are lifeless. As cities grow faster, they are becoming uninhabitable in terms of life. Although a few areas take away all the pleasures, most of the people in the city live in a state where there is a shortage of drinking water, lack of shelter, sewers and mosquitoes. Water and air in cities are completely polluted. Even the affluent find it very difficult to survive. Inability to live without electricity and air conditioning It has to exploit and destroy coal, petrol, sand and mountains. But we cannot exploit nature so cruelly. Nature will retaliate. Evidence of this can be seen in the recent storms, droughts, floods, and deadly epidemic Corona. These are the warnings. Emerging machine innovations and artificial intelligence are also reducing job opportunities in the city. On the other hand, the villages are on the verge of death today. Job opportunities have also been destroyed as agriculture has been destroyed. Rural people have very dependent to the city. The last century villages, which were acting bustle with work, now they are look like graveyard. During the daytime, we can only see the elderly and the sick in the villages. Instead of this grave situation, Pothigai solai is trying to create a life with love, peace and happiness not only for the present community but also to the future generation.
